Decent price for just the one stone but don't waste your money thinking it's a quality set. Good for intro learning to hand sharpening.

3000 and 8000 are very fine, used for finishing/polishing

3000 and 8000 grit is extremely fine...standard tri-stone/3-sided sharpening systems are usually like 1,000-grit Arkansas stone, 800-grit synthetic stone & 300-grit synthetic stone. That's kind of the fine, medium, and coarse grit size. The example I looked at is on the cheap side, the Smith's 6" Three Stone Knife Sharpener System for around 40 bucks retail. $12 bucks is good to maintain an edge but not good to bring a blade back once it's dulled to the moon and back. It'd take you forever to get anything sharpened...gotta start coarse and work your way to fine.
