Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank tonight

I have this, buyer beware. Great design but if you want to use it for anything more than light file transfer it will slow down rapidly as your ssd heats up since there's no cooling. Also it sometimes drops out altogether.

I wonder if there's a version of this with a USB-C DP Alt mode port (rather than HDMI). It would really be a killer application for using some of those XR glasses with a phone or tablet. If anyone knows, please drop a comment.

Same, the lure of the all-in-one, but no heatsink like their stand-alone M.2 enclosures.

I've never seen one. But also I don't know about "killer application". The cable is built in to most of these and is only about 6", you'd whack yourself every time you turn your head.If you use an extension to avoid that, then you might as well connect it to a hub with a separate enclosure/ssd, since it'll presumably be sitting in your pocket anyway (where it will likely overheat even faster).

Anyone know how fast the throughput is for the internal M.2 SSD slot? Thanks.

The claim on the tin is 10 Gbps, but like we're commenting above, it's going to be a fraction of that once it throttles.

The glasses usually have at least a 1 meter long cable. So the length isn't a problem. A hub/splitter supporting USB-C DP is already necessary to power both the glasses and the phone simultaneously. What I was looking for was something to do the same thing but also add storage in, ideally an SSD. Something much like this example but with a USB-C DP port. https://a.co/d/05ZV8Kot
