Reviews say that black&white mode is not as clear as Paperwhite is and the colors are washed out, too.
No wonder it's on sale.

All color e-readers have contrast issues. They work great with color limits, such as comics and magazines, probably one of the best ways to read old comics beyond getting the physical copies. I have one and it looks about as good as any color e-reader

That is what I was afraid of and why I ended up ordering the Paperwhite instead. Text readability is much more important to me than color.

Every color e-ink uses a color filter that halves the resolution when the color is used. They look exactly the same as a paperwhite in black and white mode
