It's a brand name, not a white box, so you potentially have some support and documentation. The company is also not from a country with questionable ethics regarding genocide.

I also like the kickstand better than the floppy cover that doubles as a stand.

Uses a "mini-HDMI" meaning you'll need an extra cable / adapter.

This MSI portable monitor uses full HDMI and has roughly the same specs, if not better: https://slickdeals.net/f/19320567

Why get this when countless deals are half off this price?

Excellent price for a great name. Been buying Asus products for literally decades with nothing but excellent performance, quality, and value.

Do you own this? The kickstand doesn't seem really sturdy from the pics so I'm wondering how it really is?

I'm also interested in this one because the kickstand can be rotated for use in portrait mode. The only one I've seen that does this.

I own this one and it is great! I absolutely love it, the stand is very sturdy, there's a screw on the back you turn by hand to loosen or tighten, then completely remove for storage (the display and the stand both come with their own travel bags).
I currently used this to build my new PC on the kitchen island and boot to load windows and drivers. Now it's on my desk since my new PC is connected to all my monitors, I have this connected to my old PC so I can prep it for resale. Never had a flicker or an issue with it, great solid travel display that I've wound up using more at home for odd things than I have gotten to test for travel. Originally acquired for when I need to pull my work laptop out while traveling.
Well worth the purchase!!

I purchased this a couple of months ago at full price. I use it while traveling. Great all around device and includes a protective case. The stand is a bit finicky, but solid once you have it in place. My only gripe is the screw hole for the stand is plastic and I can already see some mild wear.
Having the option of vertical or horizontal was also a driving factor for me. I would purchase again.

Highly recommended UPERFECT 3K OLED 120Hz (~ $200-250) if you want a better portable display for gaming.

No, I have a cheap one. The floppy cover stand is not very reliable as the screen easily can slide off. I feel like a kick stand would be a better option. So as has been mentioned, you can use it vertically.

Not really. It comes with that actual cable and a USB C. Not sure why you'd need another or any kind of adapter. Maybe if your laptop is really old?

On another note I had bad experiences with MSI products (had a laptop literally blow up on me lol) and like someone else mentioned above, Asus stuff has been pretty bulletproof. At least the stuff I own.

Bought it today, got it within hours, it's great!
