The Alpine UTE 73BT is a straightforward single DIN receiver that fits older vehicles and simple swap outs, with solid sound and 5 volt preouts for cleaner aftermarket setups. It has been described as pretty solid in a 2010 Explorer and as a radio that just works, with years of trouble free use in one vehicle. The main concern is Bluetooth reliability, and the feature set is basic, with no touchscreen, Android Auto, or navigation screen. At around $68, it is a practical pick if you want a no frills head unit and can live with the limitations.
Common Questions (5)
Bluetooth reliability is the main complaint, but the unit can still be a solid buy at this price. A fresh install reported no Bluetooth problems after a few hours of use, though call quality was not yet tested.
It fits older vehicles well because it is a non-touchscreen receiver, and it can be paired with an iPad mounted in front for a modern interface. It has also been used successfully in a 2010 Explorer as a straightforward factory-radio replacement.
Modern installs may require checking schematics, finding the correct harness, and sometimes adding a line output converter or DSP before an amp. Crutchfield can verify whether your car needs a computer interface and provide the right harness and teardown instructions.
At about $68, it is considered an easy buy for a simple Alpine head unit that just works. At full price, a better EQ-equipped model may be worth the extra money.
No, it is a basic single-DIN media receiver without Android Auto or a built-in navigation screen. If you want those features, a flip-out or touchscreen head unit is the better fit.

Many single din decks have the ability to pull out a screen and have Android Auto. I think anyone who buys this is making a mistake.
P.S.
I have after market radios in all my cars for over 20 years and 20 years ago I did have a high end Alpine single deck... and... I regretted it.
Here is an example of what I am talking about...
