Anyone have one of these power pack from Segway? Looks like it's a Chinese company bought the old Segway for the name and just started making these power packs.

The reviews are brutal for these. Thought about buying one about a month ago (been this price for a long time) but if this fails, you could lose your house or start a forrest fire. So I'm waiting for a deal on something safer.

Reviews aside, can't that be said for any battery product? Yes - if it fails, it can start a fire. But that's not unique to these or the "Segway" (zombie) brand.

Yes, that's the reason that so many complaints about quality control in the reviews of this are important.

For a smaller unit, the $/Wh price is a good price. At this smaller size, 30cents per Wh is hard to beat. The 200 watt solar input isn't great but considering it's only a 500Wh unit, I'll give that a pass. It'll take right around 3hrs to charge with ideal solar conditions and the right panels, so easily within 1 days worth of sunshine or even within a day with less than perfect sun. Overall, It's still a pass for me, but only because the competition for these power stations is fierce, and there are so many options available. This wouldn't be a bad option or unit, but on the other hand, it seems like every consumer electronics company known to man is getting on board, making one nowadays and the price for what you get seems to be getting lower by the day. Remember, not long ago in 2020, $500 for 500Ah or $1/Wh with far fewer features than this was the typical rate for this size category power station. Chalk up another win for capitalism.

yup, Segway at one time was one of the few fully American owned and operated companies. The company was sold and now their all their crap is both designed and manufactured by the Chinese. Which scratches them off my list. You still have to consider that almost everything is made in China these days, including most American-owned companies, but it's important to note that not all Chinese-made stuff is made equally. The better American-owned companies still do their own R&D, & design their own stuff, then have the product assembled in China, but agree upon set standards and tolerances that must be met. The point is, made in china stuff is not all equal, some of it can be very good, even excellent. If I had a choice, I'd prefer to buy products that are owned and made in the USA but the options are so few and on top of that, it always requires paying a massive premium. You can still buy good quality American-owned & designed products, but assembled in China stuff at more reasonable prices. Just research the company. Segway having no more U.S. ties to the company is mostly trash.
