The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth Controller stands out as a versatile pad for Switch 2 and PC, with TMR joysticks, Hall Effect triggers, a great D pad, and a handy switch between analog and digital triggers. It also supports Bluetooth on Switch and can wake a Switch 2 after setup, while the docked dongle is for 2.4 gigahertz use rather than Bluetooth. The Bluetooth model lacks 1000 hertz polling, uses D input instead of X input, and does not support Steam Input, so the premium mainly buys Switch compatibility. The coupon also appears to be dead, which undercuts the posted price.
Common Questions (5)
It works fine on PC, but the Bluetooth model does not have 1000Hz polling, uses D-input instead of X-input, and has no Steam Input support, so gyro and back buttons are unavailable there. The non-Bluetooth Ultimate 2 is the better Steam/PC pick if those features matter.
Yes, it can wake a Switch 2 with shake-to-wake after setup: power on the controller first, then shake it to wake the console. The controller also works over Bluetooth on Switch 2 without the dongle.
The joysticks are TMR, which is positioned above Hall Effect, and the triggers are Hall Effect. It also has a switchable analog/digital trigger mode and a D-pad that feels excellent.
No, the Switch version can connect to Switch 2 over Bluetooth without the dongle. The dongle is for 2.4GHz use, though one comment suggests the docked dongle may still need to be plugged in for that mode.
The advertised coupon code appears dead and may not apply, so the $36 price is not currently reliable. If the code fails at checkout, the deal price may not be reachable.

I have 2 of them that I use on my switch 2, and they both work via bluetooth. I believe the dongle is for 2.4GHZ not bluetooth.
I LOVE these controllers, they are incredible, especially for this price. My favorite part is the switch to change from analog to digital trigger buttons.
