If you have a Masterbuilt electric smoker, as I have, this accessory ups your smoking game by a mile. The hopper holds a lot more chips than the cylinder that is built into the side of the smoker, giving you much more time in between adding chips. You can also use this to cold smoke everything from cheese to salmon to cream cheese. Some people, like me, use the direct attachment to the side of the smoker. But there are also those who choose keep this cold smoker a couple of feet away, connecting it to the smoker with a section of flexible drier duct so that all of the smoke, but even less heat, is sent to the smoker for better cold smoking.
I've been using this attachment for the last 10 years and have transferred it to 3 different electric smokers. About 2 years ago, the electric igniter crapped out and I use my propane torch to light the wood from underneath. Being a pyromaniac (self-described), I kind of enjoy lighting it that way. Still, my cold smoker is showing it's age a but and decided to splurge for a new one.
This cold smoker attachment is made to use wood chops to generate smoke. But, there are those who claim that you can use wood pellets in it. Google is your friend. Read the discussions.
BTW... although Masterbuilt claims up to 6 hours of continuous smoke without adding more wood chips, take that with a grain of salt. I do find that it lasts a lot longer than the 30 minutes you get from the stock side-loading cylinder. I think it's fair to expect 1.5 hours or more for this attachment using wood chips. Unknown how long pellets would give you.
PLEASE do not turn this thread into a debate on electric smokers vs. pellet grills vs. stick burners. This deal is for a great attachment for those who have or want a Masterbuilt electric smoker and wants to make it better.

I've been watching this ever since they re-released this cold smoker attachment last year. I had purchased one on AliExpress.com for about $70, but they lied about having it in stock and it took well over a month to receive it and that was supposedly from a US Warehouse.

another thing to add.... these are often shown as not compatible with some of their models. sometimes thats because the air inlet on the side of the machine is a different size, in which case you can build an adapter, or sometimes it is simply too high or too low, in which case you just have to build up a base for either the smoker or this attachment.
