Also some synology models have 2.5gbps ethernet, and some have expansion ports while others have addl USB for external drives. Most people end up buying a Nas not realizing what they miss and they end up buying one more. Please do all your research before getting stuck with something missing important features, or something with features you won't need and pay for it.

Oh, you don't understand why you'd want to have network attached storage vs a desktop. 1. it doesn't bog down your desktop resources. 2. it's separate storage accessible by all your devices. 3. it's always powered on, but uses a fraction of the power your desktop does because it's a purpose built appliance and not a general purpose PC.
