They are. one of them is liek $40 and another i believe is $95. The good news? I haven't replace a filter and my unit still spits out 12 TDS/PPM water. so unless you're using an insane amount of water, i think the filters will last you awhile. When i installed my unit, I put a $20 inline TDS meter so i can see what it's spitting out. Here [amazon.com].

Regular RO filters simply use water pressure to operate.

2:1 is more efficient than 1:1 despite what others may have posted.

I have the larger 700gph unit with alkaline ($300). Has been an excellent alternative to our previous 7 stage w/tank RO system. Much less waste, more under sink room and minimal operating noise. Easy install as well especially if your counter hole is already drilled.

If the claim of 1:1 vs 1:4 is true, I figure it will pay for itself in about a year. In for 1.
in the waterdrop G2 specification , it says 2:1

TDS creep is when you first turn it on after it sitting for a little bit, the water will have absorbed some contents back and the TDS number rises. Ie, i think clean RO water is 0-25 TDS or PPM. So for instance, my local water supply is 1000-1300 (very high, Southern California) and it takes about 30 seconds for the unit to get to 20 TDS. This time will vary based on how dirty your tap water is. If you look up your water supplier, they usually post this data online somewhere.
Is there a meter or sensor that tell when tds creep has lowered? Regular tap I'm told to leave running for 10sec, before use/drinking. Guessing it's same idea?

On this unit, no. You'll often see units with a meter built into the water dispenser. Honestly, if you have decent water in your area, 10 seconds. If you have really bad like mine, 30 seconds is more than enough.

Tempted, but the only power under my sink is for the disposal. Needing an active plug under the sink kills it for me.
I had the same issue. I solved it by splitting the power and added a remote controller to the disposal. The filter gets constantly plugged. It works fine so far.

Anyone know how to drill hole in granite countertop to install water dispenser? What tools needed and can first time driller will able to do it?
You don't have to. A solution is to replace your faucet with something like this: https://a.co/d/0h6sRlrp there are many similar products in the market. The spray on this one is way too firm but it works

Diamond hole saw bit, there is no pilot so you start on one side til it bites, the rotate around slowly until you have enough to guide the bit down straight. If you go slow and let the bit do the work, this has worked every time for me. You could also use a bit of water trickled while drilling for cooling and to control dust as you go. Local home stores should carry the diamond encrusted bit in small sizes

These are not cost effective, the replacement filters are almost as much as a new unit, although some people will have the filters last a couple years most will not.

I also think the G5P500 for $189 is a better deal than G2 unless you really care about water waste. G5P500 is 2:1 and G2 is 1:1 (less water waste)
Pure to drain
1 gallon pure to 1 gallon drain

The 2:1 on the G5P500 is more efficient and officially certified to both NSF/ANSI 58 & 372, while the G2 is "tested to" NSF/ANSI 58 standards. They are not officially certified.

Can you add a remineralizer? I had an APEC setup at the exs that was a number of different stages, then it went to RO, then it went to two more things the last one adding minerals back to the water.

Curious how else you would expect to power it?
I am used to an APEC system that requires no power. What does this use electricity for?

There's a pump that facilitates a higher flow rate than traditional systems.

Ended up ordering the G3P600 for $399 instead for the increased efficiency (2:1 vs 1:1), better filtration (more certifications), faster flow and built in digital TDS meter. The coupon code for the G2P400 didn't work for the G3P600.
