This is a decent deal, I paid 50-60 for a no name one just like this. I don't use it all the time, but when I need it, is SUPER handy. I use a cheapo laptop padded sleeve to store it in.
Like if I have to work on another computer but don't want to give up my main monitor... THIS. Or if I'm doing insanity spreadsheets for work on laptop? THIS. Or I'm at work and have to multitask and need more screen space? Yep, THIS.
So much so in fact I've thought about getting rid of my server/workbench monitor and just using something like this instead of the old 27" monster
I have even plugged in my Amz Fire HDMI stick and used it as an improvised 2nd screen during football game conflicts to watch 2 games at once
This 15.6 inch 1080p portable monitor is mainly valued as a cheap second screen for work, travel, and couch use. It fits temporary multitasking setups well, from laptop work and MacBook Pro travel use to iPad, iPhone, Firestick, and even arcade cabinet projects. The listing appears to include USB C and HDMI cables, and it has worked flawlessly in real setups. The main caveats are the lack of a case or cover and no power brick, so storage and power may need to be handled separately.
Traveling MacBook Pro users who need a temporary second screen, because it works flawlessly across laptops, iPad, and iPhone with the right cables.
Office multitaskers who want extra screen space, because it is adequate for general office work and handy for spreadsheets or working on another computer.
Yes. Similar portable monitors in this price range are adequate for general office work, and this size is handy as a temporary second screen for multitasking, travel, couch or bed WFH, and laptop setups.
It can arrive with USB-C and HDMI-to-mini-HDMI cables, but no power brick. One setup report says both cables were included and the monitor worked with a MacBook Pro, Windows laptop, iPad, and iPhone.
The 4K version is around $190, so the $39.99 1080p model can still be worthwhile if you will use it regularly. The tradeoff is that 4K would be more useful, but at a much higher price.
I plan on using it as a secondary screen for my MacBook Pro while traveling as I'm used to multiple monitor setups, that or a tertiary monitor, or to use with a firestick/onn box etc at different times...
1.37lbs and 0.04 inch thin
0.04" ~= 1.06mm, a USB-C port is 2.6(?) mm wide, so the picture that shows the USB-C ports on the side is either fake or the claimed dimensions are inaccurate

I think if I found this useful, I'd have wished I'd paid extra for the 4k, which would be even more useful. So I'm not sure if it's just a waste of $40...?

I hear you, but the 4k version is like $190.
Sure, I'm more than sure I would enjoy that more. but at at that price multiplier, and if it's something I come to depend on, I'd look into it, and have more that enough ways to purpose it regardless.. but I also get maybe not everyone does.
I have the YXK. It comes with a couple of cables. I don't think this one has any. Cheap cables are about $8 on Amazon, so I think the YXK even at $3 more is a better buy.
I would not be surprised if they are all actually the same monitor. They sure look alike in the product photos. Using mine as a cheap second monitor for my laptop and it comes up in my operating system as a "XYM" peripheral.

.
All the reviews and whatnot say it comes with usb c and hdmi to hdmi mini cables etc, but no power brick. But I guess I will find out when it arrives...
But I agree that these monitors from the different links are probably the same product...
