This is a decent price on these, but if it's your first or only set of ratcheting wrenches, I would go for a standard set of ratcheting combination wrenches (such as Icon 64841 or similar), with a 15" offset on the box end, and reversible ratcheting mechanism.

Solid advice, the longer ones are really problem solvers and not the practical first choice. Plus the shorter, or standard size wrenches are more affordable which makes them a logical first choice for purchase. I don't have the reversible models...I have to flip the wrench. My first set was GearWrench and I have to admit I find myself reaching for these more than a standard wrench unless I need to put ridiculous torque on it, then I go for the standard combo wrench.

To be honest my set of GearWrench ratcheting wrenches are so old...that I walked in and bought them at a Sears store about 25 years ago. If I bought them again today I might look for the reversible switch on them but honestly that's not that big of a deal if it means more mechanical parts to break inside of the wrench. The rest of the industry has seemed to have caught up with the technology, I would probably chance picking up a set at HFT - Pittsburgh, Quinn or Icon. I think they all have the same warranty - in my opinion HFT is the new Sears if you consider the ease of warranty aspect. I would probably look for an 9-10 piece set, both SAE and Metric depending on what you'll be working on. I like the Icon stuff but the price is still pretty high for my weekend warrior shenanigans. I would grab the cheap Pittsburgh set if on a budget. The GearWrench brand has gone up in cost too but I would look around for a holiday deal if you can wait...check out Rural King, Ace Hardware, Tractor Supply, Amazon, Menards, Home Depot, Lowes, Amazon etc. If you already have a set of combo wrenches that might buy you some time while you wait. Just saw this at Tractor Supply - GEARWRENCH Assorted Ratchet Wrench Set, 20 pc. - $89.99. Seems as good as deal as anything else these days. Hope that helps! Other brands I would consider would be Husky, Kobalt, Crescent, Stanley, or even Tekton. I would say Craftsman but they carry the American made price with a foreign made tool. Might as well shop any other brand at that point.

Can you provide links? Is it literally "icon 64841"? The following 15" offset and reversible parameters is confusing this noob.

I would say what store is closest to where you will do work and do they have tools that have a lifetime warranty. If you live close to a Harbor Freight that is my 1st choice but, be a smart shopper with it only buy anything at HF if they are having a sale never pay full price. My first set of ratchetting wrenches was the Pittsburgh brand which is the lowest tier tools that HF has but i still haven't broke them they are the flip over type. If you really want bang for your buck I would suggest joining the harbor freight reddit and wait for a sale on the quinn wrenches they have a 12 piece metric for 100 and a 13 piece SAE for 110 but wait for a 40% off coupon. If you are serious about doing other things and need a jack or anything the Daytona 3 ton floor jacks they sale are basically tanks and also go on sale. I will also preach the membership especially if you wait for a good sale that starts early for members you can go in find everything you want and ge the sale price same time you buy the membership my first big purchase paid for the membership and been one since I suggets payign for two years its 45 bucks instead of 30 for a year so you get a discount but you can only buy the 2 year in store not online.
Now after all that if you are no where near a decent store Tekton are sold on Amazon and apparently have a great warranty you take a picture of the failed tool and they send you a new one. And if you buy directly from Tekton apparently you get reward points that eventually turn into free tools.

I actually started out with these and these are still going. I got these when they use to be like 17.99 i think and on sale were like 12 bucks.

Like i said before never pay full price at HF wait for sales and build out what you need. If you dont have a regular set of wrenches start with those then add ratcheting ones.
