Where are you seeing a lot of bad reviews? I have the larger Astro Onyx 3/8 Nano with the Astro shorty impact sockets and they're amazing! I use it way more than my CP7748 1/2".

The bad reviews show a very bad weak spot prone the cracking on amazon. Shame looked like good deal but that's probably why its on sale. Working on a car, this thing isn't going to last with that weak spot.
