this is a horrible price for the amount you get considering it is only 56.44% calcium hypochlorite (shock)

amazon [amazon.com] has the same price for the 6 pack and $40.99 for the 12 pack. I had a 25% coupon also. The 12 pack with 5 S&S and the coupon comes to $28.69 or $2.39 a bag. Just the coupon it's $30.74 or $2.56 a bag before tax.

HTH is a name brand that is known for being low end quality-wise for things like shock

If you want to use less shock during the season it is best to stock up on chlorine granules (not broken up as much as shock but more surface area vs tabs). It is also best to use a pool sock (goes in the filter basket and collects large particles of debris). The pool sock will prolong the amount of time between filter cleaning/replacement
