It depends on the location, but they're generally very easy-going with it. When they do the costume days for Halloween, people will literally wrap a piece of tinfoil around their wrist and say they're dressed up as a burrito. If you're near a Chipotle, just print out the logo of a hockey team and scotch tape it to your shirt and give it a try β¦ I'd guess that most employees would give a chuckle and ring it up no problem. I've gone to a LOT of these type of promo days at multiple locations and they've always been extremely easy-going with it for anyone making any kind of effort to participate in the spirit of the promo.
Slight revision to my plan β¦ I think I'll have a little fun with it. I'm going to print this out on a sheet of paper and duct tape it to the front of my shirt.

No, I haven't been to their Hockey promo before. But I've been to several of their Halloween deals and also the last tattoo day and never seen anyone have a problem getting the deal, even without the required getup. I've seen a number of people do the tinfoil wrist as a "costume" and one year, I also saw a couple of guys in line with just regular street clothes who said they were going to say they were dressed up as their roommate if anyone asked. But they just asked for the BOGO and got it no questions asked. And for the last tattoo deal, there were several people in the line ahead of me with no sign of tats who got the deal and nobody asked to see anything. I don't have tats, but I had drawn a little pepper with a pen on the inside of my wrist. It wasn't obvious, but I planned to flash it if they said anything β¦ it never came up and they were just running the deal through for everyone. Of course, different locations may vary, but I'm guessing that most of them don't really care and any sign of trying to participate will be fine. It's supposed to be a fun little theme promo and reports I've seen in past threads have said employees were almost universally laid-back with it. I'll go with the "redneck hockey jersey" sign for the fun of it, but I doubt I'd even need that at the store near me.
