Meaning they can continue to manufacture and sell these as long as they were previously FCC approved for that model. We're seeing this in the drone space as DJI was rushing to get their last batch FCC approved before they clamped down.
Community Reviews
This TP-Link Deco tri band mesh system is praised for fast whole home Wi Fi, strong 2.5G performance, and easy setup. It can push near gigabit speeds across larger homes, handle many devices, and offers useful extras like an isolated 2.4 GHz IoT network, guest Wi Fi, VPN support, and solid port forwarding and IP reservations. The main caveat is reliability, with reports of satellites dropping offline, firmware frustrations, and some older printers or devices struggling to connect. A capable mesh option if your network gear and device mix fit its strengths.
Common Questions (5)
Several users report it being rock solid for months to about a year, including homes with many devices and wired backhaul. Others report satellites going offline, firmware update problems, or units failing after months to a few years, so long-term reliability can be inconsistent.
Yes. The Deco app can create a separate 2.4 GHz IoT network for cameras, smart devices, and other low-bandwidth gear, plus a guest Wi‑Fi network. It also supports VPN access through the app and can isolate devices when needed.
Older printers and IoT gear may need the Deco's authentication lowered to WPA or WPA2, or a separate 2.4 GHz IoT/guest network. The Deco app can create a 2.4 GHz-only IoT network, which helps devices that cannot see or join the main merged network.
With a 2.5G WAN/LAN connection, it can exceed a 1 Gbps plan and reach about 1.2-1.4 Gbps down on over-provisioned fiber. On a 1 Gbps connection, speeds around 920 Mbps were reported, and whole-home Wi‑Fi speeds improved substantially versus older mesh systems.
It is most compelling for faster internet plans or if you want 2.5G Ethernet and Wi‑Fi 7 features. If you only have gigabit service, some users feel Wi‑Fi 6 is already enough and the 2.5G ports add little value.

Out of curiosity, are you using wired or wireless backhaul among your satellites?

My bro set up my parents' house with a Unifi system. He wanted good, full coverage, and used all Unifi parts, the APs were those saucer-looking ones, and then there was the controller module... I forget its name... Cloud something? Anyway - it worked, good area of coverage.
We had weird problems. I could be in the same room as the printer with my laptop, yet be unable to access the printer. Both were on the WiFi network, same subnet and IP addresses were compatible, all that, but it was like the printer didn't exist. However, I could walk a few rooms away, and suddenly the printer would become available. There were loads of other weird, small problems over the course of 2 years with that system.
Eventually I got fed up with it, disconnected it all, and got an Orbi system (I'm not advocating for Orbi, just what I got because at the time it was the good deal), and we have had very few problems since. Enough that I'm watching deals (almost pulled the trigger on this one or the Costco variant, but not there yet), but not enough that I'm constantly frustrated like I was before.
Just my experience with Unifi - I won't go back, because it was THAT bad. I know many people who swear by the brand, but we all make choices that take into account our own experiences.
