The disadvantage is that the new Intel CPUs are being released on a totally dead platform socket, whereas the 7900X can be directly upgraded to current top level Zen 5 as well as upcoming Zen 6. There have also been vague hints that Zen 7 may also end up on AM5, depending upon the status of the AI bubble by time of its release.

$40 cheaper than earlier deal posted today. This is one of the best deals I've seen on a Ryzen cpu. With the new Ultra Plus Intels being released, all these ridiculously overpriced AM5 Ryzens will probably start coming down quite a bit..

Depends what workloads you run but for me, absolutely. My 6 core was huffing and puffing all the time. My 12 core never feels anything.

I would wait for a 7600x3d sale personally. The 7900x is a beast but the CCD split makes it slower at gaming than a 7700

Great price. Paid $85 more when it went on sale last October. At least I beat the price explosion on RAM at the same time. Try buying 64GB of DDR5 RAM for $140 now days. Built a new system that has been running rock solid since. Used mainly for photo and video processing, so not having an x3d isn't that big of a deal.
