Looks like a really good deal for a 55 lb set. Unfortunately 55 lbs is a bit low for intermediate lifters. I got the 50 lb powerblocks from Woot and my son immediately made me buy the expansion to 70.

It depends. I'm an advanced lifter and I could do a lot with 55-pound dumbbells. It's great to combine this with a gym membership.

I'm a non lifter and those 55 lb dumbbells would do a lot with me.

garage gym reviews did a ranking of multiple adjustable dumbbells (these CAP are not on the list): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Wtdh1Ynkb0

even thought the CAP are not on the list watching this will give you things to think about when buying and these could end up being a lifetime purchase

Ive been using these for about 2 months now. I will say the handle was very hard to twist at first to adjust the weight on one of them. It was frustrating but its working fine now. Just needed a little wear and tear. Also to note, the weights are bottom heavy. So, when you lift them up to do an incline dumbbell press, they sometimes slowly rotate in your hand if you dont have a good grip. And these have plastic feeling handles so it's hard to get a solid grip.

I've been shopping around for a set like this. Price seems reasonable from whatbI have seen.

I have these, paid way more, but these are really great. The adjustment works well and the entire thing feels like solid quality. I've had mine for about 4 months and they are still doing well. I wouldn't drop them obviously and baby them, but they are great in my office during boring meetings or seminars. I stand my desk up and get some reps in.

I've had these for about 8 months and this is spot on. Mine have knurled metal handles though so when they try to rotate in my palms it's kinda painful. Maybe I'll want more weight someday, but I'm at the point in my life where I'm just trying not to fall apart 😄

Used these during Covid when the gyms were closed. These are really good. i did not have any issues with plates falling down. Also increasing and decreasing the weights were so easy with a twist. These only go to 55lbs though, butif you dont need anything above 55lbs this is a good buy

Supposedly Snode adjustables with 5 pound increments are in the works but I'd expect them to be at least $500 once they're out.

While it's indeed plenty for some exercises - why investing in quick change dumbbells if you still going to need to buy some other set anyway, better save some money and space and go for bigger set from the start. But the biggest issue with these cheapo sets is the adjustment step. 5lbs is just too much for low-weight exercises. Idk how to handle let's say 35-40 bump in stuff like lateral rises or smth (I sometimes do smaller jumps even for squats and I'm just a beginner). Stalling at the same weight for weeks and months - is a killer for beginners IMHO.
