I can't speak for these shoes but having done the hike years ago light to to medium trail running shoes are IMHO sufficient and recommended over heavier duty hiking boots and these shoes fit the bill.

Community Reviews

Merrell ProMorph trail running shoes stand out as a lightweight, comfortable option with strong support, especially for wide feet and long hours on your feet. The wide versions and all black colorway get particular attention, and the shoes are described as feeling great on walks, work shifts, and trail use. Fit can be tricky, though, with some sizing between toe room and foot lockdown, and the sale only covered certain wide and color options. Coupon codes also failed for some checkout attempts, so the deal itself was not always straightforward.

I'm not sure if you're serious but if you are, I'd say no. Go with hiking shoes/boots.
Serious question . I could never find boots for my wide feet . I wear sketchers because they offer xxwide and those will still almost go over the side

All black available, usually it's only the hideous colors on sale and in stock.
