The real deals here are the PlayStation Fortnite bundles which are $100 less than other pricing and $200 less than they'll be on the 2nd. Wanted to make the thread so anyone on the fence about purchasing had time to before the price increases next week.

This will kill the industry. No one will be able to afford these prices to game.

So what happened to the price hike? Maybe they're delaying it to get more orders in...

AI hasn't got around to updating the prices yet at all the vendors.
But gamestops AI is faster.

Get the Fortnite bundles while you can!!
You can paste the characters and artwork of GTA 6 on the box and pretend its that ultimate bundle.

No one has the Fortnite bundles in stock anymore, gamestop is glitching showing that but never actually checks out.

Unsure if it's EOD today or what. Last time Sony raised prices, some retailers sold through existing stock before raising the price.

Its a "Recommended Retail Price (RRP) change" which matches what you are stating.

Will they then most likely raise the prices they're selling the consoles to retailers at?

Sony haven't themselves raised the prices on their site, so they would be undercutting the vendors and competing unfairly.
I bet gamestop does not care cause they will continue to sell used/refurbs. Up to the retailer. Im sure eventually as the retailers buy new units at a higher cost, they will certianly go to MSRP.

Edit: right after that posting, Sony PS site now shows the new pricing.

You can't checkout using gamestop, and Sony also gives error when trying to pay. these "deals" are pretty much dead.

A corporation's primary legal and ethical duty is to maximize profits for the shareholders who own it. If they didn't, people would not invest in the company, and R&D would suck.
No shit, but shareholders need people to buy their products, that's why my "daring gamers not to blink" comment exists. Sony has every right to charge whatever they want to, but the fact that they just blame this on everyone else when it's really about preserving profits...

2020, PS5: $400
Jan 2025: $450
Aug 21, 2025 $500 "financial strain caused by recent U.S. tariffs"
Feb 20, 2026 $500 even after SCOTUS rules tariffs will end
Apr 2, 2026 $600

Like, there is no realm on earth where a 5 year old machine is now worth 50% more than it was 5 years ago. Absolutely none. People shouldn't buy this, at this kind of pricing you might as well buy a budget gaming PC or wait and see what the Steam Machine looks like

Higher console prices means that all the companies will be forced to justify the value proposition of getting into their next-gen ecosystem (they'll work harder on exclusives - which is why Sony has stopped putting it's future 1st party non-live games on PC). You can be at ease knowing that the current gen consoles (PS5) will be supported for a long while, because these high prices will stall adoption of next-gen to a standstill. Nintendo is currently learning this lesson at this very moment; as Switch 2 sales have nose-dive as they are scrambling to build up exclusive content for that system to make it worthwhile.
.
Consumers should be doing their part as much as they can to buy physical and then resell - which will boost the secondary market, offering a way to get games cheaper and forcing digital storefronts to come down in price to be competitive.

I have tried to place order for PS5 disc edition w/Fortnite ($449) on PlayStation, and GameStop numerous times since past 3 days but it's not going through. Gamestop doesn't state it is OOS but on the last step of placing order it says it's unavailable. PlayStation simply throws message on the last step of placing order - "Thank you for your interest in the direct.playstation.com experience. Unfortunately we are unable to process your transaction. Please visit one of our retail partners.". Their customer service through chat is unresponsive.I thought of price match through BB, but they are selling it through third party sellers with not so great reputation.I'm in Austin, not sure if location has anything to do with this issue. Any other ideas in how to buy this deal?
They damn sure charge your card every time you try!!!!

Same experience with GameStop Fortnite bundles not processing. I was approved for their credit card and free pro membership. Sadly, it has a $400 limit before you receive the physical card. Tried multiple other cards but no dice. Resorted to buying the Pro from Target where I had a bunch of discounted gift card credit. Held out this long for PS5 price drops but want to play GTA6 in all its glory on my 4k 120hz oled big screen and now I can.

Earlier today the Flowering bundle was available on Amazon for $399, B0FRSZT2H5
It went quick and put that unit to #1 in PS Console sales.

Bookmark it and keep checking on it. I think they are slowly relesing them to prevent scalper sales.
