Clogged dryer vents are a very common cause of house fires and this is an incredibly cheap and easy mitigation tool. I am always shocked how much lint comes out and I do mine every 3-6 mos.

I bought one and my dryer is working so much better now. I was getting my dryer vent cleaned every 9 or so months but I think the actual internal dryer ventilation was just as much of a problem.

They also use scare tactics to make you buy their product.

Anyway, cleaning your lint trap after every use and you should be fine for years.
But nothing is more satisfying than opening your dryer and cleaning the air duct assembly.

That long brush that many of these vac hoses comes with makes a big difference, IMO. YMMV depending on how bad the lint buildup is.
