Because it was made to compete directly with the likes of MacBook Air, MS Surface Laptops, etc; it was even marketed in some places as the 'MacBook Killer'.

Essentially a windows based take on a macbook air at about $1k all in after taxes. Hard to match these specs at this price elsewhere and it can do light gaming as the cherry on top.

Can anyone speak on the brand though? Dropping 1k even on a mainstream windows PC one might want to be sure before buying. How's geekoms reputation with drivers support etc?
no doubt the specs are excellent though

Geekom has been a very reputable name in the mini-PCs market and have been around for quite some time. This is their first take at the laptop industry and so far, the reviews for this laptop are positive, as linked above. You can always search on Reddit for further feedback.

I know, but I didn't purposely because that's not as good of a deal as this. Comes with an IPS Display vs OLED on this one.

Understood. I didn't realized the 16 was IPS. Thank you for the deal!

For some of us, thats a pro, not a con. I'm not a fan of glossy oleds. IPS is easier on battery, and no PWM flicker. I ordered the x16, $899 pre-tax with 7% cash back

The only thing puzzles me is why they put Ultra 9 in such light chassis. Heat dissipation would limit the CPU performance for sure.
But the spec is really good, powerful CPU, 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD makes it a high end ultra light laptop.

The resolution is low on the 16" being 1600p, instead of 1800p like on the X14, along with the brightness too being 400-nits vs 450 on the X14. The PWM flicker is at a higher frequency so most users wouldn't notice it, but yes, it is present on this laptop.
I will add the 16" in the description too, just in case.

Reviews have been decent - price point is good too, but I wonder why they went with such an old CPU in a new laptop, I guess to keep the cost down?
