Of note: The desktop is 4 pieces for those who care. You can see the seams in the pics. I've seen many with 2 pieces, this is the 1st I've noticed with 4.
My solution is a desktop calendar or blotter to cover the work area, if the seams get in my way.

I'm surprised that these two desks would have different desktop pieces given they LOOK like different names slapped onto the same desks but the photos clearly show the seams you noted!
