$55x3m 5G unlimited plan
$60 tax on phone (CA)
$25 activation (waived)
Total cost: $225 ($250 w/activation)
First person waived the activation fee when I asked and paid the deposit, but person that helped me after with activation was a bit hesitant saying typically 250 is the lowest, but ended up giving it to me at 225.
These phones are popular. I ordered 2 phones and had to wait 2 weeks for them to arrive, then was told they accidentally sold one of them when I went to pick up today. They are telling me they'll get more in 3 days, but that's what they said the first time.
The $55 plan comes with 6m Disney+. I'm guessing the subscription cancels if you cancel plan in 3m though.
As mentioned, model is SM-731U1 which is unlocked version (can't be locked) unlike carrier-locked versions sold on Metro deals and other carriers.
They had iphone 16e for free too with 3m, but noticed they changed that now to require 24m contract.

Simply switch to the Total 5G or 5G+ Unlimited 3-month plan. So port in still required? Device taxes and fees may apply. Requires new activation on a Total 5G Unlimited 3-month plan or higher, external port in, and ID Verification. Available only in Total Wireless stores. Limit to 4 devices per account.

If you don't need phone, they only have unlimited plans and you can get 4g for $20/m, 5g $25/m, 5g+ $30/m. Price is locked for 5 years. 5G+ plan is not deprioritized on Verizon network, but the other plans may be throttled if lots of Verizon main customers on the local tower.
If bringing your own device (BYOD), $30/m for unlimited prioritized 5g+ with Disney+ (as long as you're on plan) on Verizon network is hard to beat.

I just need the phone.
Is TW store experience any better than Metro store? Metro experience was horrible around my area. They don't want savvy SD customers.
Both employees I met were nice. Just don't start the conversation like you're ready for a fight. I just mentioned I heard activation fee could be waived, not expected or demanded it, and they did it with no objection.
Not that I haven't had employees that felt like they were defending some great moral duty by keeping you from getting an advertised deal. Looking at you Best Buy.
