This is one of those rare mini-amps that let you send most of the low frequencies to an active subwoofer, which greatly improves the sound of your speakers in the midrange and treble, affording you greater dynamics and headroom. The only thing it's missing is a USB input, but that's easily remedied with a simple USB-to-RCA adapter you can find for $10-30 on Amazon.

$95 is for the amp with 48V adapter. If you want to save a few more bucks, $77 gets you the amp with a 32V adapter.

Kind of pricey for what it does but it's technically 2.1ch not 2.0.

The 3.5mm output is pre-amp, only the two speaker post outputs are amplified. Stereo amp with an output for a powered sub but not a 2.1 amp.

I have several similar tpa3255 bluetooth amps and they are impressive. Can be had for <$40 if you already have a way to provide 36 or 48v power (I use my ryobi 40v batteries.) There is a dual chip version for around $65 that has 2 chips, one for stereo and one bridged for subwoofer.

[QUOTE=Birdlawyer93;183309876] Who runs a passive sub these days?

Depends on what you are up to. I use them to make jobsite battery-powered bluetooth speakers, often using those weird automotive enclosures that have a sub and two full range drivers all in one cabinet, it is perfect for that. Or if you have a bookshelf system and an old car sub you can piece together a little home theater setup on the cheap.

I have one of these, works great. This is a good deal seeing as it comes with a 48v power supply. I would always recommend using a 48v 5a with any of these Class D TPA3255 chipset devices, gives you more headroom for bass and dynamics.
