API was acquired by the Klipsch Group in 2006 and Mirage and Athena Technologies were soon eliminated. (Klipsch Group also acquired Jamo at this time.) Energy and Jamo were acquired by Rayleigh Labs ( established in 2017 in Shenzhen, China) in late 2024.
These have been the best speakers I've owned, and they really are good any everything. All music types, HT works great, dedicated stereo with or without a sub, records, lossless hifi, etc.
The best thing about this speaker line is the great detail you get but without fatigue. They have a warmer sound that never gets tiring, and use their full range to represent detail well.
I have much more expensive setups since my original purchase, but I still use the RC-70s in my nicer stereo system, also paired with Marantz.

Audio Products International (API) was a prominent Canadian speaker manufacturer (established in 1973) that developed and manufactured Mirage, Energy, and Athena Technologies speakers. The company was known for its in-house design and testing facilities and frequently collaborated with Canada's National Research Council in studies to determine measurable qualities listeners attributed to good sounding speakers. API's anechoic chamber was legendary.
API was acquired by the Klipsch Group in 2006 and Mirage and Athena Technologies were soon eliminated. (Klipsch Group also acquired Jamo at this time.) Energy and Jamo were acquired by Rayleigh Labs ( established in 2017 in Shenzhen, China) in late 2024.

Specifically this paragraph MAY indicate Rayleigh was making Energy speakers before buying the line from Klipish / Vox

IF you were to blindly listen to them side by side after proper implementation.
You would favor one over the other, wouldn't be an obvious answer imo.
Adding the cost makes that choice exponentially much more complicated imo.
Many other factors go into this but anyone claiming they know which is better or lousy as a universal choice has an agenda.
Especially if they have never actually heard them before!

Very similar sound. I like the Energy sound better, but both brands sound almost identical. I have/had both - combined with different receivers over the years. The Klipsch are 8" these Energy are 6.5" - the bass on the Klipsch is fuller. I run both without a subwoofer.
At one moment I had 6.5" Energy Veritas and Klipsch RP62, and I kept the Energy. They sound identical to me.

The weak spots(but adequate) are center(81) & sub.
Both properly implemented, IF it's an upgrade/step up in sound performance, it's an incremental one ime.
Whether it's worth $800 would be personal choice after listening to both imo.
