I don't think $123 makes sense for an IOT lamp with a battery. Maybe $40

I don't understand how any Phillips hue product is competitive.

These types of responses are so tired. Hue is the Apple of the Smart lighting market. Is it too expensive? Maybe. It carries a significant premium over the value option like Govee. Is it made better? Absolutely. The build quality, responsiveness, integrations with other apps, etc. set it above the competition.

You don't have to personally value that. But don't pretend like this costing more than $40 is some absurd notion.

I generally agree. We have probably 40 Hue lights and products in our home. I love them! But a couple of things have happened recently that has made me less enamored with the system.

1) Hue is just absurdly expensive now. It's actually wild what they expect price wise. I'm a huge apple fanboy too, I think we're probably a similar type of person, but man. Post covid the Hue ecosystem has been crazy pricy. I am not value conscious but there's a limit and $120 for this kinda trash looking lamp hits that limit or close to it.

2) Hue used to go on good sales but they are much less frequent now and the price of the system has basically doubled. So even when there is a sale it's still pretty rough.

My partner and I are very willing to buy quality and our house is Hue enabled but if I were looking to do that installation now, I never would have gotten into Hue probably. IMO the golden age of Hue is well over unless price is completely no object.

Also alternative systems are far better than they were previously. Though I agree that Hue is the best! I'm a fanboy, just in my field of vision typing this I have probably 15 Hue light products. But man has it become expensive these days! With better competition and higher prices than ever, I get why people are uneasy with Hue.

That being said it's not 100% on Hue, everything is so much more expensive these days.

Came to say Hue is ridiculous in their pricing...that's all. Even sale prices are outrageous. 👎

Hue pricing is absurd. I had several Hue lights a while back and constantly had to remove and add them to get them to work properly. Switched to Govee and haven't ever had issues.

I love hue and wouldnt go to another brand. But the pricing on products are ridiculous at this point. Anyone defending this price is out of touch. And thats why competitors are outselling them at the moment.

Sadly but it's a fact.

Have a nice day, Hue is over priced.
