No state bans solar outright. Technically no state outlaws or bans solar panels — quite the opposite. Most states have solar access laws that forbid HOAs or other bodies from restricting solar installations.

Yes, these are legal. Most states omly prohibit untested batteries espicially for scptters and bikes.

Great forum and DIY is still a perfect option. My first couple of solar setups were 100% DIY. But for the average Joe, these stations have come down enough in price to justify just buying a ready made setup. Especially if it's just for camping or small backup power. I used to joke about people buying power stations and how cheap I built mine, but the kWh price has plummeted.

this is one that you can plug into your outlet and pass around the output to one circuit in your house with the battery and/or solar without any agreement needed with the power company? Not legal except in Utah? I may, may buy it. CO is planning on this like many other states. Maybe the ecoflow stream is easier to set up. Is there an ecoflow stream deal?

you shouldnt need an agreement with your power company for smaller units like this. you just turn off the main breaker so you arent connected to the grid and hook a generator up. however there is a proper standardized way to wire it up so that a ding dong doesnt accidentally connect it to the grid.

Look at the device. It should tell you how many watts it draws. heat pump is not likely as they draw a lot. But definitely the fridge. just not sure how long as they all draw different amounts.

My 2k-sqft house uses around 15-20kWh/day when I've got everything (excluding the car charger and AC) running. 3kWh is a bit small for a whole house. However, if you're looking to use the battery to cover your fridge or freezer for a day or two, or run a space heater, or honestly to even power a small RV for a weekend, this size is probably about right. My only minor complaint with this kit is that the panel is a little undersized for the battery if you wanted to use it intensely for multiple days. 3kwh/400w = around 9 hours of uninterrupted full sun on the panel to charge the battery. As a backup or for a weekend off-grid trip it's a good size.
