The Segway Cube 1000 is a 1,024Wh LiFePO4 power station with a 2,200W output and about 35 pounds of weight. It compares closely with the OUPES Mega 1 on capacity, while the Segway is a bit heavier and the OUPES adds lighter weight and higher solar input flexibility. Project Farm testing put the Segway through well across a broad range of checks, and it also handled computer backup use as a competent UPS. The main cautions are cold weather shutdowns below freezing, connector differences that may require adapters, and reports that the sale price only appears at checkout or may already be dead.

Any experience with operating it under freezing temperatures? Debating between a power station/solar and digging a long trench to my sheds. Mostly needed for lights and occasional use of a table saw and etc. thanks for any feedback
No power station in "My Experience" will work in under freezing conditions that I've come across. Both my Bluetti Elite and Seqway had error codes when powered on when delivered in December in 20 degree weather. Both did not work until the battery temp went above freezing.

I have this Segway unit.
The Oupes Mega 1 is on sale right now for $299 and it's better in every way.
  • It's lighter.
  • Better solar inputs. up to 75v vs 60v. This is important because you can series 3 panels(most smaller panels are around 22v voc).
  • The best thing about the Mega 1 is the easy DIY expansion battery. Any 48v battery can be a expansion battery. Use ordinary MC4 pins to create cables to the 48v battery.
Oupes is in the power station business.
Segway is not. They haven't come up with anything new for 2 yrs. I think they are just clearing these out.
What warranty would you put your money on when one fails 4 years down the line?

Someone who knows more than me posted in one of the dozens of Segway power station posts in the last week that these are not 'segway' that some Chinese company bought the right to slap the name on their units. They're all made in china afaik though. Amazon reviews for these do not instill confidence though.

Project Farm did a fairly in-depth Youtube comparison of popular power stations in this category including the Segway and the Oupes (I always seem to get dinged by SD for linking directly to external websites - just search YT for "Project Farm Best Power Station"). If you can sit through the entire 20+ minute comparison and tolerate his somewhat repetitive, grating voice narration, PF does a very good job comparing the Seway to its competitors. The final chart at the end (20:57), shows that he rated the Jackery the best, although it cost 3x the Segway's $499 price (at the time). He judged the best "budget" model to be the Ecoflow at $699. But the Segway acquitted itself quite well across a broad range of tests. And had it been available for this $293 sale price at the time of the review, it would have (IMHO) stood out as an unusually good buy - as long as your needs don't require the absolute highest capacity, shortest charging rate, or purest sine wave power delivery. Noteably, it also worked as a competent UPS for computers.
Those were 2kWh power stations though, right?

Are the solar inputs for all (or most) of these batteries cross-compatible with other brands?
It appears the Segway uses Anderson type connectors. Somewhat common, but many stations like my EcoFlow and Bluetti use XT60i connectors. Not a big deal either way, connectors are cheap. Solar panels typically use MC4 connectors, so you'd need MC4 to Anderson for these and MC4 to XT60i for EcoFlow and Bluetti. Could use the same panels with different connectors depending on which station you're plugging into.

Love Project Farm. The guy is an absolute genius, and at least as trusted as Consumer Reports. His voice has become noticeably higher over the years, but hey, I still look forward to every new video. Thanks for the referral!

For those that are not aware, Segway is NOT the company you might think it is anymore. Segway is now a Chinese-owned company. While originally founded in the United States, Segway was acquired in 2015 by Beijing-based Ninebot—a robotics startup backed by Xiaomi.

Two of them were, the rest were all 1kWh, which I thought was an odd choice of samples for a comparison review. Unsurprisingly, the 2kWh ones ranked higher in total output and longer to charge to 100%.
