The m12 is for trim & molding since its maximum is 1.5 & the m18 is technically for all of those plus baseboards since it shoots just over 2" nails, sometimes you even want to use a 16ga for baseboard, the m12 is nice & light for trimming around doors and windows fast all day

This deal led me to grab the M18 for $200. I rock the 23ga pin nailer with one and 3/8 inch, with glue or caulk you can get a lot done with it, so I had to spring for the 2 1/8" inch+ freedom
