This one is brand new as well, with a two-year manufacturer's warranty. Looks like a straight-up $35 discount from the Amazon listing.

Philips has been good to us with warranty service, but they are very particular on who is considered an authorized reseller. Amazon is. Is woot? (and being an Amazon-owned company is not the same as being Amazon)

This is a well known machine that's been proven reliable.

I've used this machine 2-4 times a day for the past 4 years without issue.

Counterpoint, we've had 2 of them (the second one was a replacement after sending in the original machine 4 times). Each of them have had repeated issues with the Latte Go functionality. Between the 2 machines, we've had them for 4 years and use at least 4 times every day (often more). We have a separate foaming device because the Latte Go has Latte Gone.

So for us, it's been "well known and proven to reliably fail in the Latte Go department every few months".

I have been thru 4 Philips espresso machines in 5 years. One lasted 4 years (xelsis model) after 2 returned for doa units. I am currently using this lattetogo, the grinder recently stopped working and is $100 to replace, so we have to use a separate grinder now. Not sure I want to keep supporting Philips on their coffee machines. Although they did just sell their saeco division to a Chinese company, maybe they will improve.

I'm on the same Xelsis since 2020 which I'm sure this Phillips takes inspiration from being the parent company to Saeco. Mine makes at least three drinks a day.

This doesn't have the LatteGo functionality so irrelevant to this product. That is a different machine.

You're right. Durability of components on their other espresso machines have no relevancy to the quality and durability of their machines without said components. The durability issue we experienced was limited to a particular functionality and in no way indicative of their overall approach to durability and product quality.

Unironically yes, the one you have is not a direct copy of the decades-old design like this one is. The LatteGo functionality is a newly added component by Philips.

It's like two cars of the same model, one of which has a 10 year old million-mile engine and one with a brand new engine design in its first year. The brand new engine failing doesn't mean the car with the proven engine is unreliable.
