I agree. As a former Marine, I wanted to love this series, but BoB is a superior series.

Show is pretty terrible, not even close to BoB. It's disjointed storytelling without any real connections and none of the characters are likable. Wouldn't pay $8 for it let alone $18.

I don't know much about the physical media available or their packaging but I see the combined The Pacific and Band of Brothers is currently $30 on Walmart.

It's natural to pit it against BoB, it's also not a fair comparison; BoB is the best limited series in history.

Semper Fi. No such thing as a Former Marine though. With that said, I agree. BoB was a better miniseries. There wasn't as great a character build up in The Pacific I feel.

BoB will also be the best but The Pacific holds its own I think. Still up there as one of the best war movies experience ever made. I liked the characters and the bouncing back to life home in the US. I especially like the last episode of their experience returning home from the violence. I even like the touches of romance in this one that was justifiably absent in BoB.

I give BoB a straight up 10, this an 8.5. Unfortunately the third in the series, Masters of the Air, is a little disappointing 7/7.5. The unofficial affiliated US Navy, Greyhound, is another 10. Tom Hanks himself is in that one with another brilliant performance, along with a great production. All 4 are a great watch for fans of this genre.
