Have heard the quality of these isn't as good as just having the raw wrenches, but it's hard to beat the convenience if you're not using them every day

Harbor Freight set is about half this, if you're just looking to have a set around.

Strongly recommend against that.

HF makes a lot of good stuff but their compact hex set isn't it.

You cannot tighten because the nut is only secured against soft plastic both leaving not enough space to grip it while not providing enough strength to let you tighten.

Basically it isn't worth it at any price and it is already cheap.

Disagree. Great for range box or spare in the car in case you're out somewhere and need it. No one cares about hinge tightening issues if you need the wrench size.

They all do, it is just the design. You just want one that is easy to re-tighten.

Isn't this also the case on this Klein set? It is only a crew and nut on hard plastic. I've owned the HF set for many years and its still going strong. The only issue I've had is every so often the nut would come loose and has to be re tighten.

I'm generally very pro-Harbor Freight for tools that don't get a lot of use or are really simple but my HF hex key set is a total piece of crap. It's completely falling apart after a couple years of minimal usage. Clicked this deal specifically because I thought "man, i would love to replace that PoS HF set."

This doesn't use a nut, the HF set does. So, no, not at all the same thing.

I literally described the problem in the post you quoted, and instead of reading that, and clicking the Amazon link to compare, you replied. The HF set captures the nut WITH PLASTIC, meaning you cannot keep it stationary while tightening, nor does the plastic keep it stationary to tighten. The nut itself rips the plastic when you try to tighten.
