Also HP is windows and apple is macOS. Not exactly comparable. People buying macOS generally know what they are getting themselves into.

I own a Snapdragons, if you care about battery life, once you get this processor, you will never go back to another Laptop platform. The Snapdragons sip the battery life ; it lasts all day. These laptops are not for gamers, they are for business people or students that want a long lasting battery life.

This is the slowest X1E chip. It's basically the Pentium version of the chip. It's fine for browsing and multimedia but that's about it.

I wouldn't call it a pentium though. It's an 8 core with great battery life and outperforms R5's in this price range.

Yep, I never go back to Intel or amd. They both suck at battery life.

Do not buy this for school. Check your school's IT for minimum requirements. Some software like testing ones will not work with the snapdragon processor.

How far along has the software compatibility come?
I had a snapdragon processor about 14 months ago and some of my software was incompatible for Windows 11 ARM chips.

The laptop runs Windows, so gets updates directly from Microsoft, largely independent of the manufacturer. Always the gotcha is if later a firmware or driver issue arises, then the manufacturer may opt not to publish an update for that.

Depends... I've mostly been using ARM laptops for about 5 years now as a software engineer with little problem... however I don't do any gaming on mine. For the most part, ordinary x86 & x64 apps should run just fine. The biggest issues come in when you're dealing with drivers. This or that anti-cheat software may have a kernel component so won't work, and for annoying reasons, the floppy disk driver never got included with Windows 11, so if you attach a USB floppy drive, it won't work.
