Like the WD Black recently posted, this Crucial SSD doesn't have a DRAM cache and it also has a fairly low TBW rating of 440, which is on the low side. Unless you're super desperate, I'd pass.

You can replace the SSD in general with an adapter, but this the 2280 is too long and won't fit. You need the ones that fit in a steamdeck.

I've had my eyes on the 2TB Samsung 990 EVO PLUS for a while. Last Black Friday it was around $120 - 130 but I didn't jump because I hadn't yet bought the laptop I had planned to put it in. Of course then in January the price sky rocketed along with everything SSD\RAM. It went to $329 and sat there until a couple of days ago when I noticed Samsung had bumped it to $500(!), and the retail sellers are adjusting their prices to match. Just crazy.

Incorrect. The WD Black (at least the 4TB that I bought) does definitely have a DRAM chip on it. Maybe the smaller sizes don't, not sure.
