EGO's 42 inch Z6 stands out as a comfortable, powerful electric zero turn with strong long term reliability and enough battery for real yard work. Owners describe it as fun to drive, effective on thick grass, and useful for mulching and leaf cleanup, while EGO tools themselves have held up for years. The main knocks are the smaller 6Ah batteries in this bundle, which feel like a downgrade from larger packs and may not reach the advertised 2 acres without extra batteries. Delivery damage and weak phone app support also come up, making it a solid but not flawless package.
Homeowners with other EGO tools, because the included 6Ah batteries can also power blowers, trimmers, and hedge trimmers.
Large-lot owners expecting the advertised two-acre range, because the included battery setup can run out after about 55 minutes and roughly nine-tenths of an acre.
Yes. This bundle includes six 56V 6.0Ah batteries, which is less capacity than the 10Ah or 12Ah packs some buyers expected. The upside is that the smaller batteries can be used in other EGO tools more easily, and the bundle still has more total battery juice than older configurations with fewer installed packs.
Not reliably with the included setup. One owner reports about 55 minutes of runtime, enough for roughly 9/10 of an acre, and needed two extra 6Ah batteries to finish 1.5 acres. Another owner with a larger battery setup reports about 2/3 acre with 40-50% remaining, so actual coverage depends heavily on grass thickness and battery capacity.
Yes, it is reported to be comfortable, powerful, and fun to use, with no issues on an acre of thick grass. Long-term owners also report solid reliability from EGO equipment over many years, though battery cost remains a downside.
The Amazon discount is only about 9%, and several comments note that Lowe's can match the same sale price while also applying a military discount. One breakdown puts Lowe's at $4,621.44 after military discount and tax, which is lower than the Amazon price.
It can be risky for a heavy mower shipment. The mower may arrive on a poorly loaded pallet with frame, blade, or undercarriage damage, and the delivery can still be marked as completed even after refusal. Buying from a brick-and-mortar store is the safer option if local stock is available.
My Ego blower, hedge trimmer and string trimmer have been going strong for over 10 years now. I would love to have this mower but my old ICE mower is still going strong.
No offense, but I don't see 9% off as much of a slickdeal, especially since the included batteries have much less capacity than this typically sells with.
When we bought ours 5 years ago it came with 4 x 10ah batteries and 2 empty battery slots, so this current one actually has a bit more juice with it.
4x10 = 40
6x6 = 36
?
EDIT: the guy above beat me to it lol
I don't know what Ego is thinking with their Z-line up, besides the E-steer, they are basically unchanged since introduced 6-7 years ago and now they've reduced battery capacity and raised prices. They had trouble selling the first generation (the 42s were closed out to dump inventory) and now they've made them worse. For example, they could have invested in the platform and come out with an actually competitive 61" deck.

I thought they were phasing this particular model out. I got the mower and charger for $400 around this time last year, and bought 6x 5ah batteries for around $900 when Lowe's had them on sale. Very happy with it
Meh, really ought to come with 6 x 10Ah or 6 x 12Ah batteries. They're cheaping out with the 6Ah batteries.
I have one ...came with 4x10ah batteries
They claim up to 2 acres.... IT WONT DO IT!!
You will get 55 minutes/ 9/10 of an acre with that setup.
I had to add 2 more 6ah batteries to completely mow my 1 and1/2 acres
False advertising EGO
Great mower. This will be my third season using it and dont have anything negative to say about it. Comfortable, powerful, fun. We have an acre of thick grass and it has no problem
So I have this mower with the steering wheel. Had it for 4 years now, I have 6x12ah batteries. 2/3 of an acre. During summer i can cut the yard and have about 40-50% battery remaining. I've had no issues with mine, works great and I cut low. I added the mulching plug. The extra battery power is good for fall time with cutting leaves. I get a lot of leaves, and can run down to 5% remaining cutting those. I got mine from Lowes for $5400 with military discount. Their phone app kinda sucks, but it does the job. I've been happy with my mower other than how expensive the batteries are.

Not going to argue, but that inventory dump got a bunch of us a fantastic deal on a pretty solid 42" electric riding mower

Homeowners with other EGO tools, because the included 6Ah batteries can also power blowers, trimmers, and hedge trimmers.
Yard owners mowing around an acre of thick grass, because the mower has handled that workload comfortably with no negative issues.
Owners who want extra runtime for leaf cleanup, because the added battery capacity can keep cutting leaves down to about 5% remaining.
Buyers who want the biggest battery bundle, because the package includes 6Ah batteries instead of the larger 10Ah or 12Ah packs.
Large-lot owners expecting the advertised two-acre range, because the included battery setup can run out after about 55 minutes and roughly nine-tenths of an acre.
Shoppers needing a flawless freight delivery, because the mower can arrive with a mangled frame and scratched blades or undercarriage.

edit: I stand corrected. Lowes has the same discount as Amazon, PLUS the military discount drops it down further.
