I thought Ego was the ticket but with more dead batteries in my garage than good ones and very little support from them, I can't recommend the brand.

Got the deal last week at Lowe's. Came with extra 5 ah battery, which I returned for $230 back, then bought 715 cfm blower which comes with 5 ah battery and charger and an extra 2.5 ah battery for 330, then returned that battery for 105 back. You end up with the same deal, but with the blower and an extra charger for 7 dollars more.
I was waiting to see this on Slickdeals to prove it's still worthwhile. Clearly it's just bots these days.

I've had my EGO systems now for about 9 years. All my original batteries still with although went diminished capabilities, the nature of batteries. But they still hold a charge and allow me to use them. Make sure that you do a reset on your batteries because at one point in time I thought two of mine were dead and once I reset the battery it worked just fine. And that was about 3 years ago. Good luck.

Also disagree. I've had my mower for 4 years now and original battery still holds 80%+ since I bought new. I've bought a chainsaw and blower w/ batteries so I can interchange. It's an investment, but hands down the best mower you'll ever own. Love their products
but then again, you haven't had a need to try their customer service yet, correct? there are way too many complaints about their service. that is inexcusable.

Is this the right mower for me?

I want to upgrade my older 20" ryobi to a 21" dual-blade model for both extra width and, hopefully, extra suction/mulching power.

I have some thick sections of grass that likes to fall over and not get evenly trimmed by my current mower.

I primarily care about cut quality. Do not need self propulsion (but will take it if I have to). I'm OK with stepping away from ryobi 40V for the mower. Lawn is not that big, I can cut twice easily on my 6AH ryobi battery. Do not want gas.

Seems like my options are one of the Ryobi 40v 21" crosscut mowers [homedepot.com] or one of the Ego select cut mowers.

Ryobi is more expensive now, but it doesn't have self propulsion (seems silly to pay more for less, but I don't want it) and I do have a string trimmer already on the system.

For the Lowes deal in order to return the 5Ah for a $230 credit, does this have to be done on mobile or can it be done on PC? On PC in cart it does show a separate line item with value attached to it. But I know in the past it didn't, and mobile was the only way to return a bundled item.

Can anyone chime in with their recent experience? Much rather order on PC that way I can also use CB sites.

Did Lowe's give you any pushback when you tried to return the extra battery? I want to do the same but I'm worried Lowe's will decline the return of the extra battery since it is part of a deal.
No pushback, was polite (and a little apologetic) to them and they were polite back.

Cart shows $0 for extra battery. How were you able to return this and get $230 back? Was it on phone or in store?
I did buy online and pickup in store, it showed the return price in the cart.

is 56V? powerful enough, or should we go with the 80v mowers?

I believe Ego is a better choice with the 56V power, especially if the Ryobi mower is more expensive. Plus getting 2 batteries with this deal, then you can sell your trimmer and get an ego one on marketplace or on a fall sale. Ego is a good system to be in for yard tools.

So with this deal I can return the 5amp battery ? That's a good deal bringing the true cost of mower to $430.

Who would you go with? I can assure you Greenworks isn't any better. I've always regretted not going Ego, but maybe they are all trash.

I have an older LM2102SP (600 series) that works fine and I'm overall pretty happy with. My only complaint is the cut quality goes down in late summer when the heat stresses the grass, and it lays down. The blade doesn't lift the grass enough for a good cut. I mulch mostly, but even if I bag the cut gets better but still not great. I'm sure the 800 series will be better than what I have, but I figure if I'm going to upgrade, I want the model with the best cut quality. Does anyone know if the 800 series cuts as good as the 1000 series? I know there are other features in the 1000 series that make it overall better (stronger motor, bigger battery, etc), but I'm only interested in cut quality. TIA

They all get more powerful. Pretty sure 6 series is 6 ft-lbs, 7 is 7 ft-lbs 8, is 8-ftlbs and 10 is 10 ft-lbs.
