All Sony tv's are going to be made by TCL, they paid almost 1 billion dollars for the contract. I sell this TV at Costco. It's better than most of the tv's we sell, for the price. It's also been as low as $479. It depends on your definition of garbage.

Honestly Sony is garbage, they haven't made a good tv in years and they sell so little of them. Wow times have changed, yes TCL has had some nice sets but we see a lot break or broke righg out of the box new. The 5 year warranty is the grace. LG over anything.. what a solid tv. Rarely do they break too.

I thought that about TCL years back. I think Hisense is better than them now UX, U9N etc, but I think Samsung has some great sets around this price but those break a lot too. LG OLED is so worth it and the picture quality is muah. Worth the penny for something we watch everyday.

The unreliable sets were made with TCL parts, that's how they kept them cheap. Samsung doesn't have their own LCD panel factory in Korea anymore, that I'm aware of anyhow. They now have to pivot to take back the lower end, but that just means buying more parts from TCL

Yeah looks like they are fully invested in oled, but those QD-Oled panels have burn in issues.. I heard they are too bright.

Most reliable brand (along with LG) according to the rtings accelerated aging torture test.
Anyway this is a great option for someone on a budget or for a secondary area where you don't need the best.
