why do they have a column of keys at the very right? who design this? enter button should always be at the very right if there's no numpads

Exactly.. I didn't like the hp laptop keyboard layout... I returned it after seeing the keys... most of their laptops under 15inch are like that...

Per my research, it appears to be an optional feature, and none of the pictures show a closeup of the keyboard, so I can't tell. I just sent them a message asking about this and will get back to you if I get a response.

Update: I just received a response and the answer is no.

"Thank you for reaching out and for your interest in this item. The HP EliteBook 845 G8 14" does not have a backlit keyboard feature."

We use this laptop at work. Performance and build quality is good but screen is too dim.
