I have an older Genesis with the side burner that was $800 about eight years ago, then they moved the production to China. The actual grill is fine, but their cast iron grates are garbage.

I saw this one and the larger Weber grill Costco is selling in the warehouses this year. Couldn't believe they're making them in Thailand now! Made in Thailand on both grills.

We can dislike the cost of the grill but if you're in the market for this model is a much better price than anywhere else.

I literally just bought this last week online from Costco. Any idea if they'll price match?

I have a 3 burner from 2003 that needs new grates, other than that it is great shape. The older models were definitely worth the premium over the Charbroil type grills.

The picture in the OP is not a 335 as it does not show a side burner.

Yes, the years keep passing by (16 now), and I'm still on my S-330's original stainless grates. I've had to replace the burners once and the heat shields, but the grates are still solid and rust free. Stainless grates are the only way to go with the Weber. If I were to buy today I'd buy the Weber Genesis S-315 Stainless Steel 3 -Burner Liquid Propane Gas Grill for $899 https://www.homedepot.com/p/Weber...-US&fp=ggl https://www.lowes.com/pd/Weber-Ge...5014838845 over this cast iron grate model. It doesn't have a side burner, but I hardly ever use mine.

If you can swing it the S-335 is worth it at $1199 in my opinion https://www.lowes.com/pd/Weber-Ge...5014838843 Once you buy it's one less thing to think about and you won't have to replace your grill for years. The best thing about the Weber is also the way it cooks, consistently. The burners aren't the most powerful, but it's engineered well and gets up to temp easily. I turn all of the burners on high, wait till it hits 550F° and put the steaks on. Super easy. I can grill even when it's windy, or in the middle of Winter. The cast aluminum and steel enclosure shields very well from wind. It's the only grill I've owned that I can say that about.

How would this handle the Texas heat? Would it chip away easily?

Yep! The 335 is link though. The side burner was key for me.

True! I didn't realize that they had moved all production back to the US. Apparently there was a brief period (2018-2019?) when they did move the manufacturing to China because I remember that specifically when I bought mine -- mine is a 2017 model. It looks like the Spirit line is made in China still, but they moved Genesis back to the US and have always made the Summit series here. Interesting.

Cast iron grills still suck though. 😃 I bought Chinese no-name brand grates instead, for about 1/4 of the cost. While they apparently aren't any better than Weber, the cost is appropriate for the quality, unlike the Weber-branded ones.

I thought about stainless, but the heat transfer isn't as good as cast iron. However, since I'm now searing on a cast iron skillet (on the side burner), I think I might just replace the cast iron with the stainless for durability. After using my grill earlier this week, I think the grates are in need of replacement along with the "flavor bars" which also appear to be rusted.

I used to have a grill by a company called Vermont Castings. That thing was built like a tank, and the porcelain-coated cast iron grates were absolutely pristine after over ten years of use. The base of the grill had a few rust areas after 11 years, and then a wind storm knocked it over, which cracked the metal at a couple rusty joints. The cast iron cover still looked brand new though! Unfortunately, the company went bankrupt, probably from lack of repeat business. That's how I wound up with a Weber.
