I bought this system for around this price back in 2013 or so, but with a Yamaha receiver. It's still running strong and sounds effing amazing for the price. Sub is small but does the job if calibrated properly. I'd recommend a 10" sub. I'm shocked these speakers are still selling new. It's a small system but sounds big. Perfect for a 10 by 10 room. Even 12 by 12 could work.

Sorry Bobby, but 799 for those without a receiver isn't even the same ballpark of a deal. The receiver alone is 400 refurbed or 650 new. So you're talking about 1200-1500 for a slightly "better" system.

This 5.1 kit is perfectly suitable for a modest home theater. You could always upgrade to towers for fronts.

Certainly going to be better than most any sound bar at this price, and fully upgradeable components.

Not bad deal... receiver is effectively $150 since Adorama sells the speakers and sub separately for $450 https://www.adorama.com/energy-ta...ens1008207

Agree! Also paired with a Yamaha 10+ years ago and the speakers totally rocked a family room HT setup.

Sorry but if you're going traditional setup not sure these are worth the hassle.
Much better off going with the other entry level Energy package for $799.

If you're environment restricted.
As much as I'm not a soundbar proponent, this is exactly the type of systems they are a good replacements for.
Especially considering none of the hassles and takes up less space.

Bought these speakers when Circuit City was liquidating, so 2008/2009. Started me down the Energy speaker rabbit hole. Now I also have RC70 towers, RC10 book shelves a 10S.3 sub and ESW-V8 sub. Sold off my RC mini center channel speaker. (Shouldn't have.)

Energy's were my first "real" speakers and the sound quality difference was amazing and eye-opening. Fond memories.

Did Adorama find a warehouse full of Energy speakers? What is happening? Next they'll find Mirage speakers with their epic SVS competing Omni subwoofers.

Have energy take 5.1 system from 2000 still rocking my home theater setup. Upgraded the mains to energy connoisseur and using earlier spekers for surround. Additionally using 4 bose dual satellites for the atomos completing my 11.2 setup. Using Original energy 10" subwoofer and Bose accousrimass as 2 subs. Entire setup although a mixup, sounds amazing.... energy rock still after more than quarter century

Haha, our usual SVS shill won't be very happy about that! He'll just pull the usual "Oh it's just a sidegrade, you have to listen to them side by side, it's complicated, people say that so and so, blah blah blah..." out of his backside, lol
