I have this combo unit and I do not recommend it. I repeat, I do not recommend it. Yes, I cleaned the filters religiously. I even got a new filter because it had so many problems. The tech is not there yet. It's essentially a dehumidifier working as the dryer and i can guarantee you will run into problems. If you want to spend your money to test the product because you are an early-adopter, fine but be prepared to replace it after a few years.

I'm split on this. I have had one for over two years now. I think it's great and highly recommend it granted you stay on top of maintenance. I simply take a baby wipe after each cycle and wipe down all the lint that accumulates at the gasket, and clean out the drain pump filter once a month, as well as the main filter under some running water.

The main reason I would recommend against this is that R-134a is getting sunet due to EPA regualtions. I think we can expect next generation of these LG, Samsung, and GE (The main three heat pump all in one washer dryer units) are going to update their offerings and address a lot of their shortcomings this year. The main one is that LG and GE both lack automatic opening the door once the cycle is complete. We can also expect all of them to update their designs to better address the lint accumlation over the radiator. Lastly the next generation will move to R-290 which will need a different heat pump altogether that may require sensors (further pushing redesigns). If I had to go back and pick, I'd actually take the samsung since the clothes do come out feeling crispy dry (not just 95% dry), and the door automatically opens to let risidual humidity out.

For those on the fence, consider the above, in addition to your price point. The new units will absolutely not be cheap or anywhere close to this price.

I have this unit, 2 actually. I replaced my separate washer and dryer and for us it's been a game changer. Once you understand how it operates best, most things described here and the reviews are a non issue. The key things are to maintain a clean filter that means 3 things:

1. The lint filter it self
2 the radiator filter, which needs to be clear of lint accumulation that can get wet and make drying less efficient.
3. The drain on the bottom, which needs to be flushed out for sand and lint that accumulates at the bottom of drum.

I like to do this all once a month. Takes me about 10 minutes to do both and it's a good time to wipe the machine down to keep it looking clean and smelling fresh.

Aside from that, machines work as expected. Set it, let "Ai" wash and dry do its thing and then get an alert on your phone letting you know your laundry is ready to fold. 2 other tips to consider:

1. Try and pull the laundry not too long after it's done to avoid humidity from accumulating.
2. Don't overstuff the machine. This applies to most dryers anyways. They need room for the heat to circulate the clothes.

I picked up the extra 3 year warranty from LG directly. Havent had to use it yet going on 1.5 years.

Happy to answer any other questions.

I have this same exact one from Costco as well and I highly recommend it. Mine is about a year old and so can't give long term reliability perspectives. I agree with other posters about cleaning the filters regularly for dryer performance. The convenience of not having to move the clothing from the washer to the dryer just overwhelms any other annoyances(such as running smaller loads, separating by material not color). Being able to toss laundry in overnight and wake up with dry clean clothes is great. The machine is quiet as well. Oh yeah, don't bother with the 'AI' wash and dry cycle, just use the regular wash and dry cycle.

LG technicians are a real problem. Had an LG washer fail (unrelated electric issue that wasnt their fault), they sent out a tech who identified the problem, and then went to order the parts and that began a 2-3 month process that ultimately ended in me getting a complete refund and ordering a non-LG washer. Tech basically said "yeah, we have a hell of a time getting parts"

My new Samsung is humming along nicely since
That sounds like a parts problem, not a technician problem.

Is yours vented or not? Samsung sells vented ones that maybe solve a lot of these issues.

Great price. HORRENDOUS product.

Mine has needed 3 repairs in the first ~8months. The tech said the materials and electronics they are using in this model are terrible quality. He pointed out a few things on the control board alone...messy/inconsistent soldering on the board, gaps/cracks in the waterproofing gel that seals the board, and poorly made capacitors that end up leaking. Internal parts of the machine are already beginning to rust because from internal moisture buildup. Also mentioned something about the water pumps being undersized, notorious for having bad wiring, and developing slow leaking drips that lead to mold and/or water damage.

Purchase at your own risk.

I paid about 1100 for my LG front load washer/set and I think it's far superior. I was in a. position for those vs all in one,a dn it just seemed better to separate them as they are the best at that.

This was my exact question. I heard the vented version is much better.

Absolutely one of the purchases I've regretted most in my entire life. Waste of money.

that's because it's an HE washer, known to never wash very well. my neighbor has one of these. they literally wash 2 garments at a time because it does such a poor job.

Our regular samsung washer and dryer are too new, otherwise I would pull the trigger. I had the samsung version in one of my rental unit, the tenants love it, never had any issue.

I went with the Samsung model. It works really well, and I haven't run into any issues. I also clean the filter after every wash, and the machine runs self clean washes and dry cycles every 20 or so cycles - luckily it doesn't force them, just remind you everytime you turn it on until you run the maintenance cycle it wants. I've had it for almost 2 years.
I haven't tried the LG, so I can't comment on the specifics of this model. But ventless combo units in general seem to be a great idea. I especially love not having to run a laundry load multiple times - I would sometimes forget a wash for a day or two in my old washer and have to re-run it before drying.

The samsung is supposed to be the most sophisticated version of these (lg being 2nd and ge being 3rd.)

The most important thing is cleaning the filters AND making sure that they supply the filter for the condenser, something that was missing in the first year of launch and even though LG CS was willing to admit it was a flaw they wouldn't do anything to fix it.

Personally I wouldn't buy this or any other one (again in my case since I did buy the LG,) LG doesn't stand behind it, Samsung is short on physical coverage to do repairs so they're overloaded, and GE is a poor design.

Im not a fan of these designs, because I have plenty of space for a regular set, but a good number of those negative reviews look like people not familar/not willing to work with the needs of one of these units. They are a compromise to save space/effort, they aren't magic.
Two of these would mean you can get two loads done without having to transfer loads and if one breaks, you have a backup until it gets repaired >:-D
