I have this combo unit and I do not recommend it. I repeat, I do not recommend it. Yes, I cleaned the filters religiously. I even got a new filter because it had so many problems. The tech is not there yet. It's essentially a dehumidifier working as the dryer and i can guarantee you will run into problems. If you want to spend your money to test the product because you are an early-adopter, fine but be prepared to replace it after a few years.

I'm split on this. I have had one for over two years now. I think it's great and highly recommend it granted you stay on top of maintenance. I simply take a baby wipe after each cycle and wipe down all the lint that accumulates at the gasket, and clean out the drain pump filter once a month, as well as the main filter under some running water.

The main reason I would recommend against this is that R-134a is getting sunet due to EPA regualtions. I think we can expect next generation of these LG, Samsung, and GE (The main three heat pump all in one washer dryer units) are going to update their offerings and address a lot of their shortcomings this year. The main one is that LG and GE both lack automatic opening the door once the cycle is complete. We can also expect all of them to update their designs to better address the lint accumlation over the radiator. Lastly the next generation will move to R-290 which will need a different heat pump altogether that may require sensors (further pushing redesigns). If I had to go back and pick, I'd actually take the samsung since the clothes do come out feeling crispy dry (not just 95% dry), and the door automatically opens to let risidual humidity out.

For those on the fence, consider the above, in addition to your price point. The new units will absolutely not be cheap or anywhere close to this price.

My wife was an idiot before i met her when it came to laundry. It happens when you live in an apartment and have to pay per load. People jam it so it doesn't wash properly or dry. I have bought 3 star appliances and I am convince people are stupid and don't have common sense in using things properly.
It's an interesting thought until you recall the smaller units from the 90s and early 2000s where they could actually handle, and perform, with that same kind of abuse. Now we are being told we have to hand-hold and babysit our laundry and it's our fault if the machines don't work the way they used to.

I have this unit, 2 actually. I replaced my separate washer and dryer and for us it's been a game changer. Once you understand how it operates best, most things described here and the reviews are a non issue. The key things are to maintain a clean filter that means 3 things:

1. The lint filter it self
2 the radiator filter, which needs to be clear of lint accumulation that can get wet and make drying less efficient.
3. The drain on the bottom, which needs to be flushed out for sand and lint that accumulates at the bottom of drum.

I like to do this all once a month. Takes me about 10 minutes to do both and it's a good time to wipe the machine down to keep it looking clean and smelling fresh.

Aside from that, machines work as expected. Set it, let "Ai" wash and dry do its thing and then get an alert on your phone letting you know your laundry is ready to fold. 2 other tips to consider:

1. Try and pull the laundry not too long after it's done to avoid humidity from accumulating.
2. Don't overstuff the machine. This applies to most dryers anyways. They need room for the heat to circulate the clothes.

I picked up the extra 3 year warranty from LG directly. Havent had to use it yet going on 1.5 years.

Happy to answer any other questions.
How easily accessible are these elements which require cleaning? Do you have to get on the floor or pull the unit from the wall to do these tasks? Thanks for your post!

Just a quick note first, my units are about a year old but they look the same, so assuming they have the same layout this is how I go about it:So the lint collector is an easy to pull thing at the top. Takes about 5 seconds to empty and replace. I find this machine makes significantly less lint than my previous conventional dryer. The radiator part (and in my opinion the biggest in getting dry clothes consistently) that needs cleaning is accessible in the same place as the lint collector. Just remove the lint collector, unscrew one screw on the right side that's covered by a sticker, pull the plastic protector, and then wipe clean the metal grates of the radiator thing. I like to use a dry paper towel. You can usually use your phone flashlight to see if there's buildup on it before doing these steps. The last thing is the filter on the bottom of the machine. There's a little door that snaps off easy. Pull the flex tube, grab a bucket and allow it to drain out the water that's left in the machine. This usually clears out any sand that settles on the bottom. Once that's done, just twist off the filter that's next to the tube, clear out any lint or hair and twist back in. You do not have to move the machines at all to do any of this assuming you have clear access to the top and bottom front areas. As I mentioned, I have 2 machines and this routine takes me a few minutes each about once a month or so. Well worth it for the time and convenience I get back from an all in one.

I have a Samsung heat pump 2-in-1 and I'll never go back. It's an absolute game changer.

Throw a load in at night, ready and dry in the morning. Really don't care if it takes long.

I replaced my washer with the heatpump Samsung and kept my old gas dryer. If we have a lot of laundry, I'll stop a load after wash cycle is done, throw in dryer, and throw another load into the Samsung. Bam, 2 loads getting done at once.

Going back would feel like a major downgrade. I don't care if it breaks down, I'll keep buying these until I get a great one. So far, knock on wood, it's been flawless for my family of 5.

So a super deal, just expect to be a little more attentive to maintenance. Obviously not for those who hang on to old washables; too much lint. Throw that stuff in the rag bag! +Clean the filters.

Really not sure the new gens will be able to overcome the manual cleaning requirements. That would require some kind of mechanism, which would probably also need attention (lol) so the problem of pissed customers will not be solved. Meanwhile, getting one bc too good to pass up.

I have the LG and the GE (bought the month it was released a few years ago, so its the original release) all-in-ones on different floors, never going back. My GE per the app stats does over 2 loads a day on average, its a beast. The GE door lock had a malfunction, and the tech replaced it in 20mins for the visit. The LG had a sensor issue in the auto dose detergent, they replaced the entire module in 1hr. Nothing is perfect, but the convience is on another level. The LG unit is more compact in physical size due to its design, and the filter is way easier to clean no tools needed, just rinse both filters a week, you can flash a light down the hole were the exhaust comes out and see if lint is in there, just dig it out with your hand. The GE you need their brushes to get in there to give it a good cleaning (tight space). LG is much quieter over the GE if that matters to you. The LG has a water squirter on the condenser internally to clean it, so if the heat pump lasts, it should maintain good performance over time. LG moisture sensor is easily accessible to clean with alcohol behind the side filter, GE I dont know where it is.

I saw the samsung filter design, looks to be much easier to live with and cleaning.

Absolute worst purchase you can make this year.
PLANNED Obsolescence!!!
You will guaranteed replace this entire unit with in 5 years.
Spend 15-30 mins to do some research and plan your next purchase.
There are a few units worth investing in and this is NOT one of them.

Inside the House...The DIFFERENCE in AC Comfort is fantastic!

Lazy people do not clean the filters.
Lots of idiot reviewers are also against Heat Pumps/Efficeincy...Because that's what they've been told (to be)
I was just reading through the reviews and people complaining seem to not know about the regular maintenance that's needed. Most of the complaints are all about lint build up causing issues. It's a high maintenance machine but the trade off is less space/energy is needed and you don't have to transfer clothes in between. For a backup or small home/apartment/condo this seems ideal provided the buyer keeps up with cleaning regularly.

This is pretty common knowledge if you do your DD online. I asked my repairman about appliances and he said everything is pretty much fine, but DO NOT buy an LG or Samsung appliance unless you know how to actively work on them yourself. They will fail, and they will be expensive to fix.

I wouldn't say the tech isn't there yet, or buying this makes you an early adopter, as they've been using this in Europe for quite a while. This is not a product for most Americans, and the way we're used to doing laundry. I've talked to lots of people that have and love units like this, but they were almost all from Europe. This is great for people that don't do that much laundry, or especially the younger people that throw a load in the washer/dryer and leave it there to pull clothes out through the week.

Uh huh. I had a Samsung Washer & Dryer that I bought in 2011. 3 kids, constant laundry. Bought a 5 yr warranty because I believed all the doomsdayers, never used it. Washer finally died 2 years ago, after 13+ years. Dryer still working like new. I did occasional preventative maintenance but nothing crazy. These days it's luck of the draw. Love my Samsung fridge too.

Laundry rm is tight on unit depth space. How much space do you need between the unit and wall on the back? Confirming these are 33"deep? Thx
