I have this combo unit and I do not recommend it. I repeat, I do not recommend it. Yes, I cleaned the filters religiously. I even got a new filter because it had so many problems. The tech is not there yet. It's essentially a dehumidifier working as the dryer and i can guarantee you will run into problems. If you want to spend your money to test the product because you are an early-adopter, fine but be prepared to replace it after a few years.

I'm split on this. I have had one for over two years now. I think it's great and highly recommend it granted you stay on top of maintenance. I simply take a baby wipe after each cycle and wipe down all the lint that accumulates at the gasket, and clean out the drain pump filter once a month, as well as the main filter under some running water.

The main reason I would recommend against this is that R-134a is getting sunet due to EPA regualtions. I think we can expect next generation of these LG, Samsung, and GE (The main three heat pump all in one washer dryer units) are going to update their offerings and address a lot of their shortcomings this year. The main one is that LG and GE both lack automatic opening the door once the cycle is complete. We can also expect all of them to update their designs to better address the lint accumlation over the radiator. Lastly the next generation will move to R-290 which will need a different heat pump altogether that may require sensors (further pushing redesigns). If I had to go back and pick, I'd actually take the samsung since the clothes do come out feeling crispy dry (not just 95% dry), and the door automatically opens to let risidual humidity out.

For those on the fence, consider the above, in addition to your price point. The new units will absolutely not be cheap or anywhere close to this price.

Yeah #1 reason I want one of these is because ADHD and laundry is a bad combination. Frown Can't imagine how much money we waste double, triple etc running loads.

I don't think it's a lack of common sense, just nobody ever taught anyone how to use something they never owned. My wife didn't know to pull the lint after every load. Hell the comments in this thread and in review threads on Reddit are full of people complaining that they have to remove the lint filter after every load and I'm just super confused because I thought that was baseline for any dryer?
ADHD, put it on your FSA card.

Uh huh. I had a Samsung Washer & Dryer that I bought in 2011. 3 kids, constant laundry. Bought a 5 yr warranty because I believed all the doomsdayers, never used it. Washer finally died 2 years ago, after 13+ years. Dryer still working like new. I did occasional preventative maintenance but nothing crazy. These days it's luck of the draw. Love my Samsung fridge too.
Both companies have the same main problem in terms of reputation, they had some real real big problems in a few of their refrigerator product lines for like 5+ years with compressors and door ice with the bottom freezers. It was a big issue, and it makes me slightly leery of these since they ARE using a heat pump with a compressor, but the tear down on this LG said it was using a different compressor than the fridges so here's hoping.

Sounds like this takes longer to perform the wash/dry cycles, require multiple touches to perform an increased number of maintenance steps, and does not result in the same level of dryness (less) or winkles (more).
Seems like a sidegrade at this point of the consumer tech development instead of a true advanced replacement. Like, should anyone replace their speed queens with this in 2026.
Calling heat pump dryers a sidegrade fails to account for the significant increase in efficiency / decreased power consumption. The trade-offs in performance and convenience vs. traditional dryers are indeed noteworthy, but so is the difference in power consumption (40-50% that of a traditional electric).

Good luck!

Just a quick note first, my units are about a year old but they look the same, so assuming they have the same layout this is how I go about it:So the lint collector is an easy to pull thing at the top. Takes about 5 seconds to empty and replace. I find this machine makes significantly less lint than my previous conventional dryer. The radiator part (and in my opinion the biggest in getting dry clothes consistently) that needs cleaning is accessible in the same place as the lint collector. Just remove the lint collector, unscrew one screw on the right side that's covered by a sticker, pull the plastic protector, and then wipe clean the metal grates of the radiator thing. I like to use a dry paper towel. You can usually use your phone flashlight to see if there's buildup on it before doing these steps. The last thing is the filter on the bottom of the machine. There's a little door that snaps off easy. Pull the flex tube, grab a bucket and allow it to drain out the water that's left in the machine. This usually clears out any sand that settles on the bottom. Once that's done, just twist off the filter that's next to the tube, clear out any lint or hair and twist back in. You do not have to move the machines at all to do any of this assuming you have clear access to the top and bottom front areas. As I mentioned, I have 2 machines and this routine takes me a few minutes each about once a month or so. Well worth it for the time and convenience I get back from an all in one.
Thanks for the detailed response, that doesn't sound too bad at all. I am thinking about eventually getting two like this so I can truly do two loads of laundry at the same time.

Any LG or Samsung appliance is a crap shoot. That's the opinion from a well-regarded local appliance repairman with 25 years on the job. More recently, I understand that LG has gotten better with refrigerators (for the most part) after sorting out compressor issues.

So which reasonable price brands? GE/Whirlpool?

Sounds like a good idea until you own the unit. Drying takes forever but the worst part is the new chemical smell you have in the house. There's no venting so everything disperses into the room the combo is in. Had to return it after a couple of weeks. We were all starting get sick

This is a crazy deal, but after my last LG experience, I really don't want to deal with them on a washer/dryer again... but it's basically half the cost of a GE or Samsung. :/ Crazy good deal.
I had a horrible experience with an LG gas dryer where the control board was causing an over-release of gas. Super dangerous because we would smell it in our laundry room. Went through an ordeal to try getting it resolved with an LG-approved technician and after multiple complaints, LG sent out one of their own technicians to ultimately replaced the control board. It was a nightmare situation and I wouldn't want to go through it again.
That said, the idea of an all-in-one unit is extremely appealing. These are pretty normal in Japan so why they can't standardize them here is beyond me...

LG washer and dryers are definitely not in the same league as refrigerators, dishwashers, and other appliances.Good luck!Jon
When I bought my LG washer about 3 years ago ago it was to replace a catastrophically failed Samsung which had a spider arm design flaw. At the time, LG was the top of the washer list. It was the refrigerator you had to avoid. Are we on the same page or opposite pages?
