Maybe with the spine, but this is a vegetable cleaver not a meat cleaver.

I was not chosen. I am unworthy. I'd commit harakiri but now I don't have a blade.

"Not for bones. So kinda begs the question- what is it really for. Dented and chipped after 3rd use. Also showed signs if rust on the blade"

I bought this cleaver and it's good. It is sharp and hasn't rusted or chipped. It will cut through bone. But, all the edges of this metal knife is sharp. I had a thumb bleed from putting too much pressure on it while cutting a fish. I wear a latex glove now when handling this.

Can't be that sharp if a latex glove protects you from cuts

Chinese cleavers are chefs knives (and are more accurately termed "Chinese chefs knife") with a taller profile and squared off tip so that they're better for scooping ingredients off the cutting board and into the pan. They aren't intended to be used as meat cleavers.

These are good knives. Factory edge is meh, which is expected, and the spine/choil are very rough and unfinished, which is irritating for use, but pretty easy to fix with some sandpaper and a few minutes.

This isn't a mulberry (thin) cleaver, these are surprisingly thick, heavy and very front balanced in terms of weight, so you really have to use the chinese cleaver method of cutting (lift the cleaver, and then basically let the weight of the cleaver do the work by dropping it) or you're really going to hate the weight and balance. https://youtu.be/BCKjAbJe12I?si=9...b0bR&t=308

These are fairly short for a Chinese cleaver, which isn't a bad thing but it means they don't scoop as well as taller models like the CCK.
