I've even used them for cats, when my cats would "fight" under the doors by sticking their paws/claws underneath
They do work, but a few notes:
The adhesive loses a lot of strength if you attach and remove it, so make sure you position it right the first time.
Watch out for carpets.. high carpets (or even flooring) can pull the piece off from normal door opening, so make sure there's some little bit of gap between the two (or with carpets, that it's only touching the top layer and not the full depth of the carpet)
