About this title:- Controversial animator Ralph Bakshi's literal adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's classic fantasy trilogy, The Lord of the Rings, is brought to the screen. An evil sorcerer from a previous era created a magical ring which enables its users to call upon its tremendous powers to rule the world, but it inevitably warps them to evil. It was believed lost, but during a resurgence of magical evil in the world, Bilbo, a simple, plain-spoken hobbit, recovers it from its hiding place. The forces of good give his nephew Frodo the choice to bear the awful burden of the ring to a place where it may be destroyed.

- 1978 The Hobbit - Cartoonish animation, 1:17 in length (I'm now watching it and somehow drawn into the story. None other than John Huston lends his voice for Gandalf The Grey)
- 1979 The Lord of the Rings - Filmed live action, then animated. This makes it more polished than the other movies. Most of the battles feature live-action superimposed on animated backdrops, which accounted for the trippy look, 2:13 in length, with a story narration at the end. I heard this was done for budget reasons.
- 1980 The Return of the King - Return to cartoonish animation. It is about 1:37 long and finishes the incomplete 1979 movie.
$5 is cheap, but I don't know what is included. It goes on sale fairly frequently for $5. It's only the 1979 movie.
