The audio encoding of every steaming service has always been highly compressed and low bit rate compared to the encodes you'll get on the physical media versions, regardless of whether both are marketed as "Atmos". And unfortunately, streaming services are scaling back 4k and Dolby Vision content too, unless you get the highest tier. Hell, Amazon Prime just announced a quality roll back this week.
If you've dropped around $2k on a receiver, you don't want to skimp on the quality of the audio and video you feed it, because quality gear is generally more revealing. So, once you've invest in a piece of kit of this caliber, assuming you want to get the most enjoyment out of it, you almost have to invest in better media. The old adage of "crap in, crap out" is still applicable.
Inflation has been bad enough the past few years, but intentionally downgrading the quality of a service just doesn't sit right with me, especially when the technology to deliver it at a lower cost continues to advance.

Of course as soon as I bought mine, the big streaming services pulled Dolby Atmos off all but their most expensive tiers expecting people to upgrade at ridiculous prices.
If I were to do it all over again today, I would probably get a nice 5.1 receiver instead.

$1800 11.2 Atmos unit for a 5.1 setup!
Even then, $1800 for 11 150 watt internal amp/power for say 9 channel setup,
more so knowing not all 9 channels need 150 watts!
Good external amp/power supply is always better than internal ones.
Pay once, cry once I say.
This is capable providing/decoding object based soundtracks(Atmos/DTS:X) but a 5.1 setup won't actually take advantage of it.

Did you buy the Yamaha A8A when you returned the Onkyo RZ70?
Brand is a strong consideration.
Now that Dirac room correction has come down to these mid level units, it's becoming one also.
Actual ownership makes a significant difference, in my opinion
Even on units that have the same specs and room correction, there can be sonic superiority from one unit to another

If you're open to either, most consider Dirac is a much better room correction than YPAO.
With the RZ70 coming down to $1500, that's hard to beat between the two imo.
