This refurbished Acer Vero 514 Chromebook stands out for strong value at this price, with an i3 1215U, 8GB of memory, and 128GB of storage that should feel snappy for everyday browsing and schoolwork. The chip is repeatedly described as much faster than the N305, and the machine can be repurposed with Linux, or even Windows 11 with Coolstar tinkering. The main tradeoffs are a 250 nit screen, no touch support, and storage that is workable but tight. It looks like a capable budget laptop if touch and extra space are not priorities.
The i3-1215U can deliver noticeably snappier responsiveness for everyday single- or dual-core tasks.
Linux can be installed inside ChromeOS using a container or VM-style approach, which can be easier than native Linux.
Windows 11 can be installed on this Chromebook using Coolstar methods for users who need Windows apps.
The upward-firing speakers can provide a more enjoyable audio experience during everyday use.
The lack of a touchscreen can limit Android app usability for some workflows.
The screen brightness can be lower than expected, with one report stating about 250 nits.
ChromeOS environment use can feel less flexible than a native Linux setup for certain tasks.
128GB storage can feel tight, even if it remains workable for typical use.

No touchscreen so it may not be best to run android apps.
Storage is on the tight side but still doable. For the price it couldn't be beat, if touchscreen is not a must for you.
