Are we sure these specs are correct? That's a very strange spec. I used to work for Dell, and I don't remember being able to spec a 5320 like that. If I did, it meant I hated my customer. When we equipped these with 16+ gig ram, it switched to dual channel with the Iris XE video, not UHD.

You can get 32GB units for around the same price if you're patient.

They're good machines though, and USB4 is essential for longevity.

Deals on laptops have become progressively rarer. This will be rather slow, but fine for docs/web browsing/media, or an agent host

Rather slow? Compared to an M5 maybe, but it'll run Windows 11 media apps fine. Just not games and local LLM.

You could edit video with this and a USB4 SSD. And for gaming an eGPU would get all but the most CPU demanding games to run fine. (But as I said earlier, 32GB is the way to go there).

Panther Lake is going to cost 5x as much.

What will really be cool is when we can get these down to $100 and pop Linux on them.

CPU passmark score is about 9300. IMO for basic usage that is tolerable. The i7 is really not much better at 9700 passmark score, it is basically the same CPU (quad core with hyperthreading) with a bit higher clocks and larger L3 cache.

Like somebody mentioned, if the RAM is a single stick (IE single channel), the on-chip graphics will register as "Intel UHD graphics." If you want to do some light gaming, you'd want to add a stick of RAM for dual channel so the on-chip graphics register as the higher-performing "Iris graphics."

Seems like a decent deal if the machine is in good condition and the battery isn't too worn, but those things are impossible to tell at purchase.

i5-1135G7 is a 5-year-old chip, 256GB storage is borderline unusable today, and no touchscreen. $255 sounds cheap until you realize you can find a 2024 open box OLED touchscreen laptop for $550 at Best Buy. Save your money or save a little more.
